Hydroseeding is a cutting-edge technique that offers a practical solution for seeding areas where traditional methods are ineffective. By evenly distributing a specialized "slurry" mixture, hydroseeding efficiently covers hard-to-reach locations such as steep slopes, hills, embankments, and other inaccessible areas.
The hydroseeding process involves combining a mixture of seeds, mulch, fertilizer, inert organic fibers, tackifiers, biostimulants, and water. This carefully selected blend is loaded into a Hydroseeder tank, which maintains consistent mixing. The slurry is then applied to the desired surface under high pressure. A green dye is added to ensure precise and even application of the slurry.
In addition to conventional seeding, hydroseeding is also ideal for other applications such as wildflower, tree, and shrub seed distribution. Our hydroseeding system enables rapid seeding of large wildflower areas, offering an effective method to restore habitats that have been lost. Wildflower seeding promotes biodiversity and supports a diverse range of bees, birds, and other wildlife.
To determine the appropriate hydroseeding mixture, site conditions are thoroughly evaluated, taking into account factors such as soil conditions, site topography, season and climate, vegetation types, maintenance requirements, and plans for permanent vegetation.
At Greenway Landscaping, we utilize high-quality products like FGM (Flexible Growth Medium) and EFM (Engineered Fibre Matrix), including Flexterra, Proganics, and Promatrix.
These specialized products provide exceptional erosion control by bonding directly to the surface area, eliminating the need for extensive surface preparation. By forming an erosion control blanket, they effectively stabilize the soil while facilitating seed germination in the mulch. Once the vegetation establishes firmly, the organic components of these products naturally break down. FGM products can also be applied to saturated areas and are suitable for dormant seeding during winter or summer.
