Luas Line

At €368 million this was one of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects undertaken to date in Ireland. The landscaping element of the project was in excess of €300K and comprised extensive tree, shrub and perennial planting. Semi mature Liquidamber styraciflua (Sweetgum) and Quercus ilex (Evergreen Oak) are a wonderful feature of the new Broadstone Plaza with a range of ferns such as Polypodium vulgare, Polystichum setiferum and Dryopteris felix mas adding to the overall planting mix.

Extensive planting of flowering perennials were a key part of the works to the new Broombridge Plaza. Examples include Agapanthus africanus (African Lily), Iris Silver Edge (Siberian Iris) and Libertia grandflora (New Zealand Satin Flower). Large groups of bulb planting such as Galanthus nivea (Snowdrop) and Tulipa Queen of the Night add fantastic spring colour.

As a whole the works involved considerable project management and operational expertise from Brendan Buckley and the team. Strict health and safety requirements were incorporated into all work methodologies on site which also incorporated traffic and pedestrian management plans. Post construction maintenance ensured the successful establishment of the scheme which will form a integral part of the landscape of Dublin City centre for years to come.
